Next Up on Senate Hot Seat: Jeff Sessions

Change of scheduling for Jeff Sessions on Tuesday: Instead of testifying before House and Senate panels in charge of the Justice Department's budget, the attorney general will follow in James Comey's recent footsteps and testify in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee on his contact with Russians, reports CNN. "Some members have publicly stated their intention to focus their questions on issues related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, from which I have recused, " Sessions wrote in a letter Saturday. "The Senate intelligence committee is the most appropriate forum for such matters."

What's not yet clear: Whether Sessions will testify in a public or a closed forum, though Senate insiders tell Politico it will likely be the former. Comey told the Senate last week that "We also were aware of facts that I can't discuss in an open setting that would make (Sessions') continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic."
