'Matilda' Actress Comes Out as Bisexual

Mara Wilson started a conversation on Twitter in the wake of the Orlando massacre that ended, Monday, with her coming out as bisexual, USA Today reports. "Me at a gay club when I was eighteen. I feel embarrassed looking at it now," Wilson, former child star of such movies as Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire, tweeted Sunday, along with a picture of herself. "Being a 'straight girl' where I clearly didn't belong, but I will say, I felt so welcomed there." She later continued, "[T]he LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself. ... So thank you."

The next day, in response to someone who asked if she was bisexual, Wilson replied, "Let me put it this way: I'm a 2. ... I know a lot of people don't like the Kinsey scale, and that is fine by me. But I'm pragmatic at heart and find comfort in numbers." (A "2" on the Kinsey scale is described as "Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual.") She later, in response to another question, got more explicit: "...I *used* to identify as mostly straight. I've embraced the Bi/Queer label lately." On Tuesday, in response to the attention her coming out was getting, she noted, "...I'm a relatively fortunate cis white lady, there's very little risk in me coming out.
