Marnie-Rae Harvey isn't a James Bond villain. She's just a typical 17-year-old British woman who happens to regularly bleed from her eyes—as well as her ears, fingernails, tongue, nose, and scalp, Cosmopolitan UK reports. But the really scary thing is no one knows why it's happening. "I'm clear of blood disorders, blood cancers, brain tumors, and AVMs," Harvey says. "My womb, uterus, ovaries, chest scans were all clear, too." It all started in 2015 when she went to bed with a migraine—she'd been getting bad ones for a few years. "When I woke up I looked in the mirror and one side of my face was covered in blood," she says. "I didn't know what was happening."
What was happening was she was bleeding from her eye. And the situation has only gotten worse, the BBC reports. Harvey now bleeds up to five times a day for longer and longer durations. She can't get a job or go to college. She's lost friends. And she's constantly nauseous and weak. "I'm just sick of it," Harvey tells Cosmo. "I wish someone just knew what it was so I could get my life back to normal." Despite ongoing tests, the most doctors have been able to find is a "weakened" immune system. They say they've never seen anything like it. Neither has anyone else, apparently, which can make the normally tough teen years even harder. "I was at the hospital the other day and people were trying to take pictures and saying 'urgh' about my face and stuff," Harvey tells the BBC.
