Winehouse's Dad Not Happy With Amy's Oscar Win

If you thought Mitch Winehouse would be celebrating the Oscar win for Amy, the documentary about his daughter, think again. Winehouse has decried the biopic in the past, Newsweek reports, and on Monday he was at it again. "Always proud of my baby. Amy will not get an [O]scar though. Just Asif Kapadia [the documentary's director]. That is what this is all about...Asif. He's fooled everybody," Winehouse tweeted, adding, "I am not changing my stance just because film won Oscar. It's a negative, spiteful and misleading portrayal of Amy. We will fix this."

Mitch Winehouse initially supported the project, Newsweek notes. But after watching the film—which doesn't shy away from portraying Amy Winehouse's descent into drug and alcohol addiction—Mitch changed his tune, complaining that the film "vilifies" him and presents his daughter unfavorably. Mitch appears to be implying he's planning his own, more flattering biopic, a project he first announced last July. "This film will not be the defining image of Amy," Mitch tweeted last week about Amy. "We are already working on other projects. I can't say more at this stage."
