Airline Loses Boston Bombing Survivor's Prosthetic Leg

Adrianne Haslet-Davis has her prosthetic leg back, but not after quite a bit of inconvenience. The Boston Marathon bombing survivor (a professional dancer who lost her leg but didn't let that keep her from dancing) tweeted Thursday to call out American Airlines: "Hi @AmericanAir u lost my luggage w over $250k of leg & dance parts. I have an entire team on u. Pls respond, been days can't dance #retweet." To say that her request to followers to "retweet" worked would be an understatement: Her feed is an absolute flurry of others retweeting or sending their own thoughts to American on the matter ("W/ all the baggage fees 1 would think airlines would be able to keep track of the bags. @AmericanAir #ServiceFail," reads one).

After many hours, a number of setbacks ("There have been over ONE DOZEN PEOPLE filing reports with you and with my name you cannot find a claim?!" Haslet-Davis tweeted after American asked for a bag file reference number), and the story getting picked up by the media, American finally located the bag. "Great news! @AmericanAir had its best people on it and found it! A little jealous it got to travel somewhere pretty," Haslet-Davis tweeted Friday. Before her bag was found, she had praised the power of social media: "I'm lucky to have a team of fighters around me. Thanks!" she tweeted. "There are many people who go through this & don't."
