Cabbie's Attempt to Report Drunken Fare Ends Poorly

Sometimes it’s tough to know when to say when. But if you find yourself drunkenly vomiting out of the window of a stolen taxi in Manhattan, it's safe to say you've crossed that line. That was allegedly the case of Kinga Tabares. The New York Post reports the 27-year-old real estate agent and a friend got in a taxi Nov. 13, and sources say Tabares' drunken behavior during the ride prompted cabbie Ronal Desir to stop at a Manhattan police station to get assistance. "[She] was so drunk, she didn't know where she was going," Desir said of Tabares, who also allegedly refused to pay for the ride.

As Desir was in the station, "The defendant got out of the backseat of the taxicab and got into the driver's seat and drove the taxicab away,” excerpts from court papers obtained by the New York Daily News say. Prosecutors say that when cops finally caught up with Tabares she vomited, with a source providing the colorful detail to the Post that it was out of the driver's window. She ended up at Bellevue Hospital, and has been hit with grand larceny, unauthorized use of a vehicle, refusal to take a blood alcohol test, and DWI charges. Her comments on the allegations? To the Daily News: "What do you want?" To the Post: "There's more to the story. I'm not speaking about it until there's further investigation." (More taxi stories.)
