Mass shootings and explosions have been reported in Paris Friday, and the AP cites "multiple officials" who say at least 35 to 40 people are dead. Details are still developing, but after an initial shooting at a restaurant was reported, there are now said to be as many as three shooting sites, per CNN. At one of those sites, a nightclub, gunmen have reportedly taken at least 100 hostages, per the AP. Multiple explosions have also been reported near the Stade de France stadium, where France's soccer team was playing against Germany. French President Francois Hollande was reportedly among the crowd and has been taken to safety, the BBC reports.

The Telegraph reports that the explosions were grenade attacks, possibly suicide attacks, and that there may be multiple explosion sites as well. The paper's liveblog also reports that the gunmen (there are reportedly at least six to eight involved) were carrying Kalashnikovs and that it's not clear how many attack sites are still active. Many people are also said to be wounded. (More France stories.)
