A Subway employee says she's still suffering from anxiety after getting locked in a store fridge for eight hours last year—and now her story is getting its day in court, the Independent reports. Karlee Daubeney, 20, says she was working late last December at a Subway in Gloucester, England, when she was storing milk in the walk-in fridge and the door closed behind her. Locked in, Daubeney says she scrawled "Help" on cardboard in ketchup or mayonnaise and slid them under the door, hoping to grab the eye of CCTV operators. But no luck: She spent all night in a room where the temperature was barely above zero, wearing only a Subway top and leggings.
"It got to the stage I was so cold I didn’t have the energy to bang on the door," she tells the Gloucester Citizen. "My muscles became so cold I found it really hard to walk for a few days, I had migraines and dry skin around my nose. When I went to hospital the next day I was told I was close to having hypothermia and I made myself as warm as I could when I got home." She also tweeted this beauty: "Got locked in a f**king fridge over night for 8 hours and work don't ask me if I'm okay, they ask if I can work tonight PISS TAKE." Now the business that manages the Subway location, CM Ventures, has been charged with safety and health offenses and pleaded not guilty. "As this case is currently under investigation we are unable to comment further at this stage," says a Subway spokesman. (If you've eaten at Subway since 2003, congrats: You just won a settlement.)
