Guy Survives Crash That Rips Car in Two
Incredibly, the driver escaped this crash with non-life threatening injuries.   (Winter Haven Police Department)

It's perhaps an understatement to say a Florida man is lucky to be alive after he lost control of his sportscar and hit a tree on Tuesday. Police say Carlos Pino, 20, may have been intoxicated when he over-corrected on a curve while driving his 1986 Nissan 300ZX on a slick roadway in Winter Haven, reports the Tampa Tribune.

His car skidded sideways and hit a curb before smashing into the tree on the driver's side, which ripped the vehicle in half, dividing the front engine compartment and cab, police say on Facebook. Pino—who did have his seat belt on—was airlifted to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say. Charges are pending. (More car accident stories.)
