Clerk Rejects Gay Couple's License Bid for 3rd Time

A gay couple trying to acquire a marriage license in Kentucky has been blocked for a third time by a Rowan County clerk who says issuing such a license goes against her Christian beliefs—even after a federal judge ordered her to issue the license, the Courier-Journal reports. James Yates and William Smith Jr. tell the paper they tried once more to get their license today after an appeals court refused to overturn the federal injunction yesterday against Kim Davis, but a deputy clerk informed them he was told to reject their attempts to get the marriage paperwork.

Not that that's going to stop them from trying to fulfill their wish to wed. "It's just making us want to press more," Yates says. "She can't get away with this." Yates and Smith say they'll be back next week to try again. (A baker who wouldn't make a wedding cake for a gay couple recently lost his bid in court.)
