Britain's Chris Froome has officially won his second Tour de France today, though rain guaranteed his victory long before he crossed the finish line in what the AP calls a "spectacular three-week slog of furious racing." Tour organizers earlier stopped the race clock after the first lap on the Champs-Elysees, instead of the normal 10, because of crash fears amid wet conditions. That meant that as long as Froome crossed the finish line—riders had to complete all 10 laps even though the clock had stopped—victory was his. As in 2013, Nairo Quintana took second place to Froome, though the Colombian was much closer behind this time around. (More Chris Froome stories.)
