Elephants Rescue Stranded Truck in Louisiana

Two circus elephants being taken from New Orleans to Dallas helped out instead of making a break for freedom when the 18-wheeler carrying them ran into trouble. Police in Natchitoches Parish, La., say they received a call about a stranded truck on Interstate 49 and when they arrived, they were astounded to see two elephants pushing to keep it upright, NBC reports. The truck had become stuck in mud at the edge of the soft shoulder after the driver pulled over, according to the sheriff's office. Police say that after a wrecker freed the truck, the driver—who doubles as an elephant trainer—walked the unharmed elephants back inside with spoken commands, Reuters reports.
