"Lol delete these or we will be on cnn in a week." On CNN is exactly where the Penn State chapter of Kappa Delta Rho ended up following the fraternity's suspension over a secret Facebook page. That "lol" line is one of the comments Onward State reports was made in connection with a picture on the private "2.0" Facebook page, which allegedly showed images of partially nude women who were asleep or otherwise unconscious. Onward State has more comments, including "sloots" (substitute a "u" for the "oo" and you'll have the meaning), "I banged her lol," and the exchange "373,217 views. All from us," followed by "make that 373,218." The page had 144 members, a group that's said to include current and former members. Per Onward State, it was a former member of the frat who alerted police to the page.
The New York Times reports that police have been investigating the page for roughly two months, thanks to the "cooperating informant," who believed criminal conduct might be occurring and was able to produce screenshots of "a small fraction" of the photos and comments on the page. The affidavit noted the page also contained photos of hazing and drug sales, with the informant telling police the drugs included marijuana, edibles, ADD medication, and cocaine. Criminal harassment charges could ultimately be filed, per the State College assistant police chief. The Kappa Delta Rho chapter, a 95-year institution at the school, was initially suspended by Penn State's Interfraternity Council; that was followed by a one-year suspension and a "reorganization" handed down by the national frat.
