A dog walk in suburban Denver is generating attention because it ended with a man shooting to death his neighbor's dog. As the Denver Post reports, the Martinez family of Commerce City were hosting a 5-year-old's birthday party when Clifford, their Labrador mix, jumped a fence. After hearing gunshots, they emerged from the house to see a nearby resident standing over their dog with his gun. The man had been walking his border collie, and he tells police that he opened fire when Clifford attacked his dog. The shooter's wife tells CBS Denver that her husband has a concealed weapons permit and was within his rights. The DA's office will determine whether any charges will be filed.
“My dog is trying to get back up. He’s screaming, he’s yelping,” recalls Raymond Martinez. “And I screamed at the dude, ‘What did you do? What did you do?'" (More dog stories.)
