November's Senate race in Kentucky is between Mitch McConnell and Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes. But write-in candidate Robert Ransdell is now making headlines because he happens to be a neo-Nazi who runs on the slogan, "With Jews We Lose," reports the Courier-Journal. Ransdell isn't content to spread his message in obscure blog posts: He plans to start running commercials on mainstream radio, insisting that federal communication laws give him that right. And he tells WLWT that he hopes to have about 200 signs with his slogan plastered around the region. "His views are virulently anti-Semitic and racist," says an official at the Anti-Defamation League.
Ransdell drew more attention earlier this week when he was invited to speak as part of a forum at the University of Kentucky. He pushed his anti-Jewish views and called himself the "white people's candidate" before his microphone got cut off when he refused to stop speaking when asked. High schoolers were in the audience, and one of their teachers got up to rebut Ransdell's comments. "This is not some interesting, abstract question of First Amendment rights," he tells the Louisville newspaper. "This guy is going on crazy rants about Jews and blacks. I can't just let that go." Both McConnell and Grimes have issued statements condemning Ransdell. (More Robert Ransdell stories.)
