Asked about the state of the world on CBS' Face the Nation today, Madeleine Albright didn't mince words: "To put it mildly: The world is a mess," she said, according to Politico. "There are an awful lot of things going on that need understanding and explanation." She discussed, among other things, the ongoing problems in Syria and Libya and the lack of media coverage of said problems. She also praised the current secretary of state: "I so admire Secretary Kerry for all the effort he’s put into this," she said, referring to his work on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "I think Secretary Kerry is doing everything he can at this moment to prolong the short peaceful cease-fires." (More Madeleine Albright stories.)
