Dodge May Have Its Own Deadly Ignition Problem

It looks like GM has some company in the faulty ignition switch club. Regulators are investigating complaints that certain older model Dodge Ram pickup trucks may have a defect that allows them to turn on even if no one his holding down the clutch, Bloomberg reports. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it's gotten three complaints about the defect—including one in which a young child accidentally started a truck and fatally struck another child.

In another case, a truck turned on while it was being worked on, knocking the handyman to the ground. The investigation involves about 110,000 vehicles—namely 2004-2006 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, reports the Detroit News. The investigation is the first step that could lead a potential recall. (GM already has a record number of those this year.)
