Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett may have been mixing vodka with a drug that doesn't do well with booze before his arrest this Wednesday at the the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, the AP reports. A police report released yesterday notes Jarrett was swaying back and forth at the Northern Lights Grill and holding the bar for support when police arrived, but he was either unwilling or unable to answer officers' questions. Though a bar employee told police Jarrett seemed very intoxicated after just one drink, Jarrett eventually told the cops he'd been drinking vodka since 9am; a bar customer noted Jarrett had said he'd also taken medication.
Jarrett denied that claim to police, though they found three gabapentin pills in his pocket—plus documents showing he'd just left rehab for alcohol or chemical dependency, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Gabapentin, which can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and loss of coordination, is prescribed for a number of reasons, though it's commonly used to treat seizure disorders or pain from shingles. Police added Jarrett "appeared to be in a fog." Fox News noted Jarrett, who had requested time off, had been on leave to deal with "serious personal issues." (More Gregg Jarrett stories.)
