The upset of the night was 67-year-old Herbie Hancock's win for best album. The most emotional moment came when rapper Kanye West, with the word "Mama" shaved into his head, mourned his late mother on stage. West grabbed awards for best rap album and song. The awards show also had a political touch: Barack Obama edged out fellow nominee Bill Clinton to win his second spoken-word Grammy, for "The Audacity of Hope."
