Megyn Kelly may never find him, but there's a black Santa Claus tucked deep in the heart of Macy's. What's interesting is just how deep. Blogging on Animal New York, Amy Nelson entered the Santaland exhibit of the 34th Street Macy's, where she saw "traditional (white) Christmas scenes" of snow-covered bridges, Santa's route, and children ice-skating. "There is zero evidence the black Santa even exists," she writes. She even visited White Santa's "lodge" and asked if there was another, "Special Santa," but he deflected: "I'm the special Santa ... to everybody," he said.
So she did what any self-respecting blogger would do: ask an elf. That led her to a tucked-away lodge, where a black toddler and her mother were finishing up with ... black Santa. So Nelson sat on his lap and interviewed him. There's "just one Santa," he explained, but when pressed on the controversy, he added that "Santa hasn't had much time to sit down and watch TV." Finally, an official-looking man ushered Nelson away, and she went to the print center to have her photos processed. "Showcased on a shelf, like a makeshift Wall of Fame for Santaland, were over a dozen photos of children and adults posing with him. They were all with white Santas." Click for her full post.
