Stars coach Dave Tippett insists "it's not about how many saves, it's about winning," but goalie Marty Turco's 29 saves last night certainly helped Dallas stay ahead of the Canucks. The 4-3 victory, which broke the Stars' two-game losing streak, came on sharp and sometimes shorthanded shooting, reports the Dallas Morning News.

With the wind chill at -44 in Edmonton in another Canadian faceoff, the Sharks seemed to have brought their own California warmth to bear on a 3-0 smackdown. Evgeni Nabokov produced his sixth shutout this season for San Jose, and his easiest so far: the Oilers had just 13 shots on goal. The Sharks remain tied with Dallas atop the Pacific Division.
