Rand Paul: Eugenics Is a Slippery Slope

Rand Paul was campaigning for Ken Cuccinelli in the Virginia governor's race today when things got a little weird. He somehow got onto the subject of eugenics while speaking at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University, CBS News reports, and theorized that someday, the short, overweight, or not-as-smart among us could be purposely aborted. "In your lifetime, much of your potential—or lack thereof—can be known simply by swabbing the inside of your cheek," Paul said. "Are we prepared to select out the imperfect among us?"

Cuccinelli has been touting his pro-life stance in an effort to pull voters away from a libertarian third-party candidate, Robert Sarvis, CBS notes. "I've been attacked rather vigorously for being a proud pro-life candidate for governor," Cuccinelli said at Liberty University. "You don't get any other rights to defend if you're not born."
