A restaurant owner in Arkansas apparently thought, albeit briefly, it was a good idea to put this message on his sign: "ObamaCare America's punishment for slavery years." Not surprisingly, the message only appeared for about 45 minutes before Smokin' Joe’s Ribhouse owner Johnny Howard, beset by complaints, replaced it with the far more benign, "Why cook? Get some carry out." He tells 40/29 TV the original message was taken out of context, though he doesn't exactly explain what the intended context was.
"I apologize for the sign. It's offending people, as it did. I didn’t intend for it to be racist-oriented at all," says Howard, adding that he's upset about the Affordable Care Act, not President Obama himself. "It's the policy and I made the mistake of wording it in the wrong fashion. The policy. It’s not the person it’s the policy." (More ObamaCare stories.)
