Let's say traffic is backed up on the highway, and you're a gun-toting would-be carjacker in a hurry. What car do you grab? If you're a quick thinker like Brian Timothy Kada Jr., you carjack an ambulance and make everyone get out of your way. That's what the 25-year-old Philadelphia man allegedly did last Friday, but a couple things went wrong: His tire blew out, and there was a patient inside the ambulance, WTSP reports. Kada allegedly walked up to the ambulance on the side of the expressway, pointed a gun at the operators, and jumped in. Then, he booked it.
"All of the sudden there was an ambulance in my rear view mirror," another driver recalls. "I pull over to let him by. He swerves, almost clips the front of the car. I notice a blown out tire in the back, and smoke coming out from the hood." The ambulance eventually "became disabled" and the suspect ran off on foot, but only after clipping the mirror of another car. Kada—who had been in a taxi before the saga began—allegedly tried to approach other cars, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. He was quickly caught, however, and the patient survived the incident unharmed. (More carjacking stories.)
