No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood led the way with eight Oscar nominations each today, including best picture. Fellow best-picture nominees Michael Clayton and Atonement each picked up seven nods, the AP reports. Rounding out the top-film race is quirky teen pregnancy comedy Juno.
Best-actor nominees were Daniel Day-Lewis for Blood, George Clooney for Clayton, Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd, Tommy Lee Jones for In the Valley of Elah, and Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises. The best-actress category will likely come down to either Julie Christie in Away From Her or Marion Cotillard as singer Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. Also nominated were Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age), Ellen Page (Juno), and Laura Linney (The Savages).
