Brad Pitt, who was with Angelina Jolie when she had her preventative double mastectomy, tells the Evening Standard he stands fully behind her decision. "Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for their care and focus," he said, adding that all he wants is "for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family.”
In her column about the procedure, Jolie had praised Pitt as a "loving and supportive" partner. "Brad was at the Pink Lotus Breast Center, where I was treated, for every minute of the surgeries," she wrote. "We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has." Pitt's not the only one admiring Jolie's decision; the Hollywood Reporter notes that celebrities from Sheryl Crow to Dr. Drew are hailing her bravery. CNN's Zoraida Sambolin, meanwhile, said today that she's also planning a double mastectomy in wake of a cancer diagnosis. (More Angelina Jolie stories.)
