Brenda Heist's family isn't exactly rushing to embrace her after her re-appearing act. When she learned that her mother had been alive for the past 11 years, daughter Morgan Heist tweeted, "#thoughtsinmyhead you will never gain my love or respect. You deserve to rot in hell for what you have done to me." She expanded on those feelings in interviews yesterday. "I ached every birthday, every Christmas," the 19-year-old tells the AP. "I thought something had happened to her. I wish I had never cried."

The 19-year-old told Piers Morgan at CNN that she hopes to forgive Brenda someday "for myself, not for her." But for now, she doesn't want to see her mother. "I don't think she deserves to see me." Ex-husband Lee Heist feels the same way. But Heist does still have some family; her mother, Jean Copenhaver, tells the AP that she's been in contact with her daughter, who is staying with her brother. "We all assured her that … we all loved her and wanted to be with her." Meanwhile, the AP notes that police are receiving reports that Heist's time in Florida, during which she says she slept under bridges, wasn't as harrowing as she's making it out to be. "We're getting several calls from people down in Florida that knew her who want to say she's not being truthful with us," says a police detective. (More Brenda Heist stories.)
