District Judge Jackie Glass today doubled OJ Simpson's bond to $250,000, after the football star was returned to a Las Vegas jail for violating bail by trying to contact a co-defendant. "I don't know, Mr. Simpson, what the heck you were thinking, or maybe that's the problem—you weren't," fumed Glass. Simpson is expected to pay up, his lawyer says, although it's not clear when.
Simpson is charged with armed robbery, and his trial is scheduled to begin in April, the Los Angeles Times reports. Simpson reportedly asked his bail bondsman to contact co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart to tell him that he was upset about Stewart's testimony. If "anything happens like this in the future, you'll be back and locked up," the judge warned. (More OJ Simpson stories.)
