Never mind that they were never supposed to see the light of day, Ford is quickly backing away from and apologizing for a pair of less-than-tasteful ads featuring bound and gagged women in the trunk of its Ford Figo. In one, Silvio Berlusconi sits at the wheel with three women who are presumably supposed to be his Bunga Bunga party girls in the trunk; in the other, Paris Hilton winks from the front seat with her reality nemeses the Kardashians stuffed in the back. As Radar reports, the ads were put together by the automaker's India ad team, JWT India, and eventually leaked online. The ads' tagline: “Leave your worries behind with Figo’s extra large boot.”
Ford has apologized, sending this statement to Business Insider: "We deeply regret the publishing of posters that were distasteful and contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within (JWT India). These were never intended for paid publication and should never have been created, let alone uploaded to the Internet. This was the result of individuals acting without proper oversight and appropriate actions have been taken within the agency where they work to deal with the situation.” (More Ford stories.)
