A pair of jets made emergency landings last night, in unrelated dramatic incidents. In one case, an Alaska Airlines jet bound for Seattle had to make an emergency landing in Portland, after its pilot lost consciousness "somewhere over Oregon," an airline spokesman tells the AP. A doctor on board tended to the pilot, who later regained consciousness, while the copilot landed the plane without him. The pilot was taken to the hospital, but there's no word yet on his condition.
Meanwhile, a cross-country JetBlue flight wound up landing in Denver due to what the airline called an "unruly customer onboard." Passengers tell KMGH-TV that the problem passenger was a 42-year-old woman seated in a "premium section" who got into a heated argument with the flight crew after they moved a man to her row because his TV didn't work; she thought he should have had to pay extra. A federal Air Marshall eventually intervened and grounded the plane. The woman was seen being led away by police, pulling her carry-on luggage behind her. (More emergency landing stories.)
