Now that New York has the country's toughest gun laws, some New York gun owners may be looking for a change of scenery. At least, that's what the Texas attorney general thinks. In a series of Internet ads, Greg Abbott has been inviting New York gun owners to move to his state. Not only are gun laws looser there; as the ads point out, the economy is strong and taxes are lower, so gun owners can "keep more of what you earn and use some of that extra money to buy more ammo."

The ads are running in Manhattan and Albany, the New York Times reports. Their attention-getting headlines: "Is Gov. Cuomo looking to take your guns?” and “Wanted: Law abiding New York gun owners." When clicked, they lead to a Facebook letter further explaining Abbott's position. The Times calls them "a rare burst of political theater" from staunch Obama opponent Abbott, who's been raising money for a possible run at the governor's mansion next year. His campaign, not the attorney general's office, paid for the ads. (More Greg Abbott stories.)
