GOP Headliners Blitz Michigan Ahead of Vote

Its primary set for Tuesday, the Republican presidential front-runners have been rallying in Michigan, where economic issues are taking center stage. John McCain proposed a training program for workers whose jobs have been eliminated. Mitt Romney is playing up family connections in the state his father once governed; wife Ann proclaimed, "Mitt and I are Michiganders," the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Romney campaign has pulled advertising in South Carolina and Florida to focus on Michigan, which the candidate said he expects to win. But McCain, who won Michigan in 2000, is touting his independent credentials, and Mike Huckabee will visit the state tomorrow and has bought television ads—including one that trumpets his opposition to abortion.
