UK Court Unamused With Apple Note, Orders Rewrite

A British court wants Apple to take another crack at writing a public notice saying that Samsung isn't a copycat, and this time it's being ordered to hold the snark. The weirdness started in July, when a British court ordered Apple to post a note on its website stating that Samsung didn't steal its designs. Apple complied, but not exactly in spirit. It made sure to quote extensively from the judge's decision in the case, which deemed Samsung's products "not as cool," and it tossed in information from separate lawsuits that were in its favor.

“I’m at a loss that a company such as Apple would do this,” said a judge on the UK Court of Appeal. “That is a plain breach of the order.” The court gave Apple 48 hours to fix it, reports the BBC. Apple's attorney argued, to no avail, that the original ruling was not supposed to "make us grovel," notes Bloomberg. Maybe the best part: Apple asked for 14 days to comply, and the court said no way. “I would like to see the head of Apple make an affidavit setting out the technical difficulties," said the judge. “This is Apple.
