Paul Ryan Courts Cuban-Americans in Miami

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan is courting Cuban-American voters with promises to be tougher on the Castro government than President Obama. Ryan campaigned this morning in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, where he stopped at the popular Versailles Restaurant. "I learned ... just how brutal the Castro regime is, just how this president's policy of appeasement is not working," said Ryan alongside Gov. Jeb Bush and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, NBC News reports.

"In a Mitt Romney administration ... we will be tough on this brutal dictator; all it has done is rewarded more despotism." Ryan also said he and Romney would help get Latinos back to work, and said America offered a better life to immigrants seeking freedom and prosperity. Cubans benefit from the so-called wet foot, dry foot policy that provides those who literally step on US soil with temporary visas and a path to legal citizenship.
