Poll: Europeans Don't Like Mitt

Europeans say a resounding no, non, and nein to the prospect of a Mitt Romney presidency, according to a YouGov poll. The poll found a surprising level of distaste for the Republican nominee in the UK, France, and Germany, with only about one in 20 people saying he would make them feel more favorable toward the US, reports the Guardian. Some 47% of Brits, 48% of Germans, and 38% of those polled in France, where Romney spent 30 months as a Mormon missionary, say a Romney presidency would make them feel less favorable toward America.

Romney fared better in Pakistan, where 13% said a Romney presidency would improve their feelings toward the US, and 9% said it would damage them. In the Middle East and North Africa, just 8% said a Romney win would make them feel less favorable toward the US. The poll results from Europe are unlikely to worry the Romney campaign too much, the Guardian notes. Being seen as "too French" may have damaged his fellow French-speaker John Kerry's campaign in 2004, and Newt Gingrich mocked his command of the language in an ad during the Republican primaries.
