Larry Green had been in the morgue two hours before they noticed he was alive. Emergency responders couldn’t find Green’s pulse after he was hit by a car in 2005, so they bagged him up. Now his parents are suing. Had their son gotten treatment immediately, they contend, he wouldn’t have the permanent injuries he now suffers from, the Charlotte Observer reports.
The emergency responders never used a stethoscope on Green, which would have detected his heartbeat. The county medical examiner saw Green's eye twitch but didn’t re-examine him, the lawsuit alleges. Green spent two months hospitalized with, among other injuries, a severe head wound and a broken leg. It took him five months to begin speaking again. (More lawsuit stories.)
