Mobs Throng Bhutto Procession

Benazir Bhutto's funeral procession made its way today through the southern town of Naudero, where thousands of mourners thronged the streets as her coffin was taken to the family mausoleum. Draped in the flag of the Pakistan People's Party, the simple wooden casket was transported through the grieving crowds as the nation continued to erupt in violent reaction to her assassination yesterday.

Bhutto is to be buried alongside her father, former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was executed following a military coup. Supporters of the slain leader gathered outside her ancestral residence, chanting: "Benazir is alive, Bhutto is alive." There are still no plans to postpone the election that many saw Bhutto as winning.
