The Avengers is still nearly a week away from its US debut, but the superhero blockbuster is already pulling in big numbers around the world, reports Variety. In just two days, Avengers has made $36 million around the world, notes the Hollywood Reporter, including $8.2 million in Australia (the second-best opening there ever), $4.1 million in the UK (making it the third-biggest Thursday opening there), and $2.3 million in South Korea (third-best opening for an international film).

Other big numbers include $4.9 million for France and $4.6 million in Italy. Disney also says that Avengers set records in New Zealand and Taiwan. The movie debuts May 4 in the US, and Movietickets.com says it is selling more advance tickets for the flick than any other Disney Marvel offering, including Iron Man 2, notes Bloomberg.
