Get down on one knee and pray this works, New York: The Denver Broncos have traded quarterback sensation Tim Tebow to the Jets in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, according to the Jets' official Twitter feed. (Update: The deal has apparently hit a contract snag.) The Jets ostensibly have a starter in Mark Sanchez, but they'll have Tebow to fall back on if Sanchez repeats last season's implosion. Tebow's fate, despite taking the Broncos from a 1-4 start to the playoffs, was sealed when Denver announced a deal with Peyton Manning yesterday.
The Jets were seen as sleepers in the race to acquire Tebow, notes ESPN, and bizarrely just handed Sanchez a three-year, $40.5 million contract extension. The team also has two other backups at quarterback, but Tebow could be something of a game-changer: He rushed for 660 yards last season—and could thus boost New York's beleaguered running game—and he's capable of running the Wildcat formation favored by head coach Rex Ryan, notes the New York Post.
