Bear Grylls prevailed in scores of Man vs. Wild episodes, but those survival skills were no help in man versus network. The Discovery Channel has fired the British adventurer "due to a continuing contractual dispute," ABC reports. Grylls, who starred in seven seasons of the survival show, was canned after he refused to take part in two projects he was contracted for, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter.

A spokeswoman for Grylls confirmed he has parted ways with the network. "Bear and Discovery have not been able to come to mutual agreement on new programming, and he disagrees with Discovery's decision to terminate current productions," she said. "Bear has loved the Man vs. Wild journey, and looks forward to producing further cutting-edge content again soon for his loyal audience." (More Discovery Channel stories.)
