Mitt Romney, recognizing his newfound position as underdog in the Iowa polls, says he will use the remaining three weeks before the caucuses to take aim at front-runner Mike Huckabee, Politico reports. Romney concedes that his big expenditures in time and money have, for the moment, been trumped by Huck’s wit and people skills. “There are some things I can do, and some things are out of my control,” he said.
Romney will air ads painting Huckabee as a liberal, hoping to guide “the inevitable reappraisal people (will) make as they get to know Mike Huckabee better.” But, ultimately, Romney is resigned “to describe to the people of Iowa who I am” and let them make their choice. “I’m not going to lose sleep over it.” (More Mike Huckabee stories.)
