A New Hampshire state rep found a new reason why health insurance shouldn't cover women's contraception: It causes cancer ... in men. Republican lawmaker Jeanine Notter put it this way: “As a man, would it interest you to know that Dr. Brownstein just published an article that links the pill to prostate cancer?” She posed the question during a hearing this week to oppose a mandate for contraception in President Obama's health care plan, RawStory reports via the Merrimack Patch.

Only problem: The Dr. David Brownstein she cited didn't manage the study, which was published last November in a British medical journal, ABC News reports. The study said men have higher prostate cancer rates in nations where women use the pill more often, but the pill wasn't blamed specifically. “This is just a hypothesis generating idea,” said a co-author of the study. “Women should not be throwing away the pill because of this.” (More ObamaCare stories.)
