A Manhattan lawyer has reported to police that she was raped by the son of New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, reports the New York Daily News. The woman had drinks with Greg Kelly, 43, at the South Street Seaport last October, she told police. She then invited him to her lower Manhattan office, where she says he raped her. Greg Kelly's lawyer has denied the accusation. “Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney’s investigation," he said.
The case was quickly turned over to the district attorney's office for investigation because of Raymond Kelly's position. It's not clear why the woman waited until this week to report the alleged attack. The woman's boyfriend recently approached the police commissioner at a public event and told him: "Your son ruined my girlfriend's life," according to a police spokesman. When Kelly asked what he meant, the man said he didn't want to talk about it then, and Kelly told him to write a letter. Greg Kelly is a former Marine pilot who became a journalist and joined Fox News in 2002. He's the co-host of popular TV morning program Good Day New York. (More Raymond Kelly stories.)
