The IDF launched two operations in Gaza this morning. (Associated Press) Dozens of Israeli defense force tanks rolled into the Gaza Strip this morning in the biggest incursion into the Hamas-ruled territory in months, reports the BBC. In two operations, eight Palestinians were killed, and four Israeli soldiers were wounded. The action comes the day before Israel and the Fatah-led Palestinian government are to launch the first round of peace talks at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. The Israeli army struck in Gaza twice: first in the north, where militants approached ground forces and were then fired on by the air force, and then further to the south, where soldiers raided houses and detained about 60 people for questioning. A military spokeswoman said the army was taking action against militants launching rockets into Israel. (More Gaza stories.) Report an error
