Herman Cain's wife is supporting him and she is "disgusted" by how the media has twisted stories about him, the candidate told Fox's Bill O'Reilly hours after fresh sexual harassment allegations surfaced. "She is still 200% supportive of me and she is still 200% my wife. So she’s handling it," he said. The media is trying to make the allegations a bigger story than it is "to get us distracted and to get this nation distracted. I want to talk about building the economy," he said, vowing not to discuss the accusations in any future interviews.
Cain does plan, however, to "to set the record straight" with a press conference today, Reuters reports. His campaign issued a statement questioning his latest accuser's credibility. "After attacking Herman Cain through anonymous accusers for a week, his opponents have now convinced a woman with a long history of severe financial difficulties, including personal bankruptcy, to falsely accuse the Republican front-runner of events occurring over a decade ago for which there is no record, nor even a complaint filed." Rush Limbaugh took a similar line on Sharon Bialek's claim—but with more slurping. Bialek, meanwhile, told Piers Morgan she's waiting for an apology from Cain. (More Gloria Cain stories.)
