Sports / NCAA football Oklahoma Upends No. 1 Missouri Shocked Tigers' BCS hopes dashed with 38-17 Sooners victory By Katherine Thompson, Newser Staff Posted Dec 2, 2007 5:51 AM CST Copied Oklahoma defensive back Lendy Holmes (11) carries the Oklahoma flag after the team beat Missouri 38-17 in the Big 12 Conference championship football game, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in San Antonio. (AP Photo/Eric Gay) (Associated Press) Missouri may have company in ranks of toppled top-5 teams (12 other Caseys have struck out this season), but that's little comfort for a team whose sights were dead set on the championship game in New Orleans. Instead, a 38-17 loss to Oklahoma leaves the Tigers uncertain of making a BCS game at all, reports the Columbia Daily Tribune. The Tigers had a first-quarter advantage after a field goal, but by the start of the second Oklahoma had taken a lead it would never relinquish. Craig Daniel's 219 passing yards served mainly to set up three Tigers field goals, as the team that hadn't scored less than 31 points cobbled together what it could against a steadfast Sooner offense.
