It was called a “goodwill” trip—but Georgetown’s voyage to China has resulted in bad blood. An exhibition game between the Hoyas and a Chinese team ended in a massive brawl on court, the Washington Post reports. Punches weren’t the only thing being thrown: Chairs and full water bottles also soared through the air. Coach John Thompson III took the Hoyas off the court with almost 10 minutes left in the game. The game was fraught with fouls, with 11 called on the Bayi Rockets and 28 on Georgetown in the first half. Several shouting matches stopped play, and finally two players began pushing each other following a foul, prompting the benches to clear. It wasn’t the only battle between the US and China this week: When a Joe Biden speech went overtime, at least according to Chinese press officials, the officials told American reporters to leave the room. Reporters refused, and the officials locked arms and began physically shoving them to the exit, the Huffington Post reports. (More Georgetown stories.)
