Bricks were hurled at police, cars torched, and shops looted as rioting spread to new communities in a second night of street violence in London. Clashes erupted in Enfield, Walthamstow, and Waltham Forest in north London, and Brixton in the south of the city following a riot over the weekend in Tottenham protesting the police shooting of resident Mark Duggan.
Police were tracking plans for the violence on Facebook and Twitter, and turned out in force in several areas in riot gear and with dogs, reports the Telegraph. Police officials turned to Twitter themselves, promising to "deploy officers to tackle" a "significant amount of criminal activity across London." Cops have so far arrested more than 100 people in the nights of violence. (More London stories.)
