Frank Borzellieri has written for a white supremacist publication, has called diversity "a weakness," and claims that rising black and Hispanic populations will lead to a "New Dark Age" in America ... and he's also the principal of a Catholic elementary school in the Bronx where most students are black or Latino. Borzellieri, 48, who was promoted two years ago, is still "intimately involved" with the white supremacist publication American Renaissance, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Borzellieri was previously a school board member in Queens, and during that tenure he tried to ban "anti-American" literature—including a biography of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.—from school libraries; he also wanted students to be taught that US culture is superior, the New York Daily News reports. Even so, the pastor at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, who hired Borzellieri, doesn't understand why there might be any problem. "Do I agree with all of it? No. But I think much of it is valuable and logical and reasonable," says Rev. Eric Rapaglia. "A lot of his ideas would actually benefit minorities." (More white supremacism stories.)
