Police had expressed confidence that parolee Giovanni Ramirez was the man they were after but they had struggled to build a case against him, the Los Angeles Times reports. "I always believed he was factually innocent," Ramirez's lawyer says. "There was a lot of pressure on LAPD. I believe that they were operating in good faith and made a good faith mistake." Father-of-two Bryan Stow suffered a traumatic brain injury in the March attack and has been in a coma ever since. He had emergency surgery this week after suffering a seizure.
